Crude steel output by Asian region declined 3% in August

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): According to the recent data published by the World Steel Association, the crude steel production by Asia dropped by 3% during the month of August 2015 year-on-year.

The total crude steel production by China during August was 66.940 Million tonnes, edging lower by 3.5% when compared with the production of 69.370 Mt during August 2014. India produced 7.660 Million tonnes of crude steel, slightly up by 2.8% when compared to 7.454 Million tonnes production achieved during August last year.

Japan reported 5.8% decline in monthly crude steel output during the month. Japan's crude steel output dropped from 9.348 Million tonnes in August 2014 to 8.801 Million tonnes in the same month this year.

South Korean crude steel production climbed higher marginally by 2.8% from 5.645 Million tonnes in August 2014 to 5.803 Million tonnes in August this year.

The Taiwanese Aug ‘15 crude steel output dropped by 5.7% to 1.855 Million tonnes from 1.967 Million tonnes during same month last year.

The following table provides cumulative crude steel output for the first eight months in 2015 in comparison with those during same period in 2014.
